Since the first meeting held at Valencia (december 2008), FuegoRED has celebrated annual encounters, up to the very last one, celebrated in octuber 2010 at Santiago de Compostela. Our very initial aim during these former encounters was basically to share our scientific knowledge and efforts, which led to the publication of two volumes, devoted to analyze the current state of fire's impact on soils all over Spain, as well as the different field and laboratory methodologies of study.
The Research Group on Soil Degradation and Conservation, that belongs to the Departament of Soil Science and Geology of the University of La Laguna has undertaken the organization of the IV Internacional Meeting of FuegoRED, to be held at the incomparable city of Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife, Canary Islands), lying at the feet of La Orotava valley. The main targets of the meeting are intended to be the establishment of further links between fire scientists on the one hand and environmental managers, on the other, as well as to show new perspectives of study about problematic issues related to forest fires.
The meeting shall consist of two days for communications (both oral sessions and posters) and a field trip to check In situ the reality of wildfires and the peculiarities of forest management in the islands. We look forward to welcoming you in Tenerife.
